For volumetric capture you will need to have some equipment and hardware prepared. You can connect up to two 3D cameras to one PC depending on your subscription type.

If you have 2 PCs network, you can connect 3 or 4 depth cameras, and for 3 PCs – 5 or 6 depth cameras.
Here are our recommendations for equipment:

Computers

  1. PC – WINDOWS 10 operating system, CPU is Intel® Core™ i9 – 3.0 GHz or higher, 16GB RAM, SSD, NVIDIA Geforce GTX 1080 series or better. (as well a monitor per PC and keyboard with mouse).

Cameras

  1. Camera – link
  2. USB cables (for camera) –  link
  3. Extension cables (power) –  regular US power extensions at least 5meters long.
  4. Stand (for camera) – link
  5. Screw ball-head mount – link
  6. Clamp ball-head mount –  link

If you have 2 cameras, you will need 2x this list, if you have 3 cameras, 3x this list, etc.

Other

  1. Lights – 4x units of these (in total you will have 8 lights): link
  2. Audio cable (for sync) – 3.5mm audio cable (at least 5m length) link

Audio cable is used for synchronization of cameras. It connects cameras into a chain. This means you need one audio cable less than you have cameras. (4 cameras – 3 audio cables. 2 cameras – 1 audio cable)

  1. Absolutely thrilled to find EF-EVE! Is the EF-EVE sure of software currently compatible with AMD Threadripper Gen 3 CPUs?

    Thanks!

  2. will the software run with an i7 CPU or must it absolutely be an i9. I have all the other equipment for a 4 camera setup besides the i9 CPU.

    1. Hi, Jones, that’s a very good question!
Our volumetric capture software has different settings that can affect your computer performance. However, our system is flexible – you can select lower FPS, Quality, or fewer cameras and this way record a volumetric video on a pretty simple machine.
Our software should be able to run with an i7 CPU, but it depends a lot on the GPU and other settings too.
It would be great if you sent us an email (support@ef-eve.com) with your computer parameters and describing the specific project you want to do. We’d be happy to advise you on this.
